On today's radar,
Yesterday I spoke about local band by the name of Universe Shark. Today, I'll be talking about a project called Pocket Shows.
I've written about a few forms of live performances in this blog before. One of my favorites is Lablogotheque. Well, within that same vein of live video recordings of musicians in strange places lies the Fredonia based Pocket Shows.
According to their facebook description “Pocket Shows is a Fredonia Based artistic experience focused on exposing performaning arts in a raw state. The arts are captured in their natural habitat.”
It's no surprise that a project like this formed in Fredonia. Fredonia is home to a thriving musical community comprised of both SUNY Fredonia students and locals alike. Mix together plenty of places to perform like EBC West, 41 West, BJ's, Doons, the Barker Commons Gazebo, Mojo's of Jamestown and a state school with a reputation for producing talented musicians and you have a perfect ecosystem for growing the arts.
Pocket Shows has begun to capture that talent in its raw form. The project currently has a little over 20 videos that mostly feature SUNY Fredonia students. The videos can be viewed on their youtube channel at: youtube.com/user/MrPocketshow. You can also like them on facebook facebook.com/pages/Pocket-Shows/172199392803518 to keep up to date whenever they release a new video.
