Big night for the Jamestown Ironmen who defeated the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings 3-2 in the first of three games at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena this weekend. The win moved the Ironmen within five points of the final playoff spot because Michigan was idle. Also, the Ironmen still have four games in hand.
Blake Kelly got things going early as the forward scored in his very first game with the Ironmen 90 seconds into the contest. While Kalamazoo answered right back, goals from Jamestown native Steve Frangione and Bryan Watt gave the Ironmen a 3-1 lead heading into the second.
From there, it was goalie Joe Gladnick, who started for all-star Joey Ballmer who is still out with a concussion, stealing the show. Gladnick made 32 saves and the Ironmen held on for the two points.
Tonight, same time, same place, same opponent as Jamestown looks to continue their playoff push at 7:05 against the K-Wings. Michigan, meanwhile is back on the ice against the Bandits on the road in St. Louis.
