Red Cross “Ride for the Red” bicycle tour to raise funds for local chapter services
Published Monday, May 14th, 2012 by Amanda Farnham in Red Cross

JAMESTOWN, NY -- The Southwestern NY Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its annual “Ride for the Red” fundraiser on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

Food and water stations will be set up along the route, which starts at SUNY Fredonia and goes along the Routes 5 and 20, with the routes traveling through the Dunkirk, Fredonia, Brocton, and Westfield areas. Routes measure 10, 25 and 50 miles in length.

Mrs. Judy Langworthy, Red Cross board member and event organizer, hopes to build on the participation this year. “This event is a fun way to help fund the vital programs that the Red Cross provides our communities in Chautauqua County,” stated Mrs. Langworthy.

Special thanks go out to SUNY Fredonia, Dunkirk Police Department, Dunkirk Fire Police, Fredonia Police Dept, and the SUNY Fredonia University Police. Event sponsors include Wegmans, Blackstone Business Enterprises, Shults Auto Group, Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Gary’s Carstar.

Applications for the ride are available at the Jamestown Red Cross office. You can also download an application at www.redcross-acc.org or contact the chapter office at 664-5115 to have one mailed to you.

The American Red Cross relies on the generous donations of the community in order to provide disaster relief, military family services, and support to the American Red Cross Blood services.
