WESTFIELD, N.Y. --

Father Daughter Dance

Pictured above are guests from the 2011 YWCA sponsored Father Daughter dance. Tickets for the 2012 event are now available at the YWCA or at WACS from Michele Meleen, Advantage Afterschool Coordinator. The dance, scheduled for Saturday , June 9, will be held in the gym, of the YWCA.

This is an occasion for dads and daughters from kindergarten to 5th grade to spend the evening together.

$20 admission per couple includes entertainment, refreshments and a keepsake photo.

New this year is the addition of dance lessons from Emmie Bishop, owner and teacher at CenterStage Dance Studio.

Tickets are presale only, not available at the door. Formal attire is appreciated but not required. More details are available by contacting the YWCA at 326-2011.

Arts and Crafts Program

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Arts and Crafts Festival and mark the 20th year of YWCA sponsorship, the YWCA is creating a keepsake program for this years show. The program will feature the history and development of the show, information about each of the vendors, general history about Westfield and greetings from the YWCA Board and Executive Director.

Ad opportunities are available for area businesses and organizations; “we’ve made the rates very affordable and have encouraged local businesses to include coupons, special weekend promotions or invitations to return;” said agency director Katie Smith. “So far there has been a great response and as we get ready to go to press I want to make sure we haven’t missed anyone.

"Anyone interested in advertising their business, promoting their agency or including a message of support is encouraged to contact me at the YWCA, 326-2011 so we can work out the details and make sure you are included.”

Dollar Days

The YWCA fitness center will be offering dollar visits beginning June 14 and continuing through the end of the month. YWCA members will be able to add visits to their account for $1.00 each.

“This is a great way to save money and make sure you have visits on your account,” said Katie Smith, YWCA executive director. “the fitness center is open to members from 5:00 a.m. to midnight, 7 days a week. We accept cash and checks only, office hours are Monday – Friday and Tuesday evenings.”

Call the Y at 326-2011 for more details.

Child Care

The YWCA continues to accept applications for pre school, pre school daycare services and the summer child care program offered. For details regarding rates and schedules contact Brenda Backus, child services director at 326-4012.

Summer Hours

“While the YWCA makes every effort to have business hours Monday–Friday each week, we are a small staff and often pulled in different directions,” reports Executive Director Katie Smith. “We encourage people to call and make appointments or check ahead to make sure staff is available to serve them. In addition to day time hours, there is staff available on Tuesday evening from 5:00–7:30.”

The YWCA offices can be reached at 326-2011 and there is an answering machine for messages.

Facility Rentals

Limited availability remains for bedroom rentals at the YWCA over the summer, but there are a variety of dates available for the assembly room, the gym, the small game room and the living room.

Window air conditioners are installed throughout the building but the new windows open easily to allow for air circulation. The front porch is furnished with wicker furniture, making that an additional seating area for guests.

More details and reservations for room rentals can be made by calling the YWCA at 326-2011.
